Tribute to a Contributor
We honor the memory of Chad Phillips, proud member of the C2A Operations Board, and long time friend of Executive Director, Jeremy Turner.
We thank Chad for his service to C2A, and we send our best wishes to comfort all his family and friends, who will miss him dearly. Chad’s family has requested donations be made to C2A, in lieu of flowers, to help us continue to build the better world Chad believed we could all build together.

What a great difference you are making in the lives of so many people who struggle from day to day, the world needs more people like you.. Keep up the great work!!!!!!
We laid a great father, friend and son to rest today. We need to keep C2A together and strong for Chad and let him help us from above. We lost a great one this week, God Bless!
My name is Stephanie and I’m the proud sister of Jeremy. His heart and soul has gone into C2A. Those of you who have never met him, I hope you have the privilege to do so. He has the most loving and giving heart of anyone I know. I told my brother that I wanted to be a part of C2A. I volunteered when C2A went to help the homeless who lived under the bridges, my life was changed at that point. The people were so grateful for the food, love and medical care. Then I saw a group being taken to rehab. My heart rejoiced as my brother said that a few of them what not have made it another week. As I left that day, I counted my many blessings. My brother is hurting for the loss of is dear friend Chad. Chad also shared a love for C2A, I had the amazing privilege of working with him at the bridge project. We laughed about childhood memories and I thanked him for being so a dear friend to my brother. I feel blessed to have had that time with him. My heart goes out to his loved ones, as I know how it feels to lose someone so close and dear. Just remember when you give to C2A, you are making a difference in other lives.
Blessings to you,
Stephanie Turner Henderson
Jeremy,
I found your website because of Nikki’s email telling me of Chad’s death.
My brother, David Murphy, who was homeless, died Oct. 8th, 2008 as the result of a violent beating by another homeless fellow at Ray’s Crossing in Decatur. To say the least, it broke our hearts. The grace was the manner in which he was cared for at Grady Hosp. and the fact that he was not alone when he died. I was with him. David had addictions issues, but had also been in the culture of homelessness for so long that he, like “Bill” (in the AJC article) wouldn’t have left the streets for treatment. It was home. The place he called home was the wooded area beyond the lake at the Methodist Children’s Home. You probably know the area. What many people forget, but you clearly haven’t is that many homeless people have family…maybe well educated family that love them deeply, but simply cannot help them for a myriad of reasons.
Thank you for your dedication, Jeremy. I had no idea until today that C2A existed. I am grateful to you for that.
Sincerely,
Kathleen Murphy Webb
