Georgians’ Struggle for Food
More in Georgia short of food
The Atlanta Journal Constitution released an article about food shortages in Georgia.
"Georgia’s rate was well above the national average of 14.5 percent for 2010, and only four states — Mississippi, Texas, Arkansas and Alabama– had higher three-year averages. The percentage of Georgians with a doubtful food supply has increased by more than half since the late ’90s."
Georgia Has 3rd Highest Poverty Rate
A Bloomberg article shows that Georgia's poverty rate was the third highest in the country in 2010.
"The only states with higher poverty rates in 2010 were Louisiana and Mississippi. Nationally, 15.1 percent of Americans were living in poverty last year."
The Need in Atlanta is Now

The fastest growing group of homeless people is children under 9 years of age.
40% of homeless men are veterans.
Atlanta is the poorest city in the U.S. for children – more children in Atlanta live in poverty than in any other city.
